This is what coxs reputation brings. We had it for last season and a half . Went down to 10 and even 9 men on several occasions, mostly down to the physicality of the team the size and the tactics, then there the opposition players and management milking it to the ref. Didn’t help us when cox said in an interview he wanted “Nasty biters and scratchers”. Imagine he was still at barrow, you would want your management in the refs ear pre match pointing this out, you would want your players to do the same. A lad I know who supports Mansfield said to me when we got cox “ he will get you results, it won’t be pretty and expect nothing off referees” We had a good ride under him but so glad he has gone.

To be fair, we're in desperate need of results.

A miserable awayday for us today, we never got going or looked like causing Mansfield any problems as they strolled to a 3-0 win. We did have an early opening in the first minute but the keeper denied Fondop. Odejayi also had a good chance but shot straight at Logan. The first half belonged to the hosts though, Maxted pulled off several top saves again to keep us in the tie. Their shooting was also off at times but Spencer scored his first from a neat cross from the left which the striker headed through Maxted's legs and in. We did push for the equaliser but Mansfield comfortably defended our corners and one led to the red card for Holden. Lawlor miscued his control and Holden went in high and reckless, the red had no option but to pull out the red. Luckily full contact was not made but there should be no complaints with the first red. M'Boungou was also booked early on for a foul on the edge of the area and that proved costly. The second half started with Mansfield on top with Hurst introduced for Hughes. Then came the second red and M'Boungou's second yellow, at the time I thought it was Lenighan who fouled the Mansfield man. Looking back at the highlights it was definitely the centre backs foul. Meaning two players are missing for next week's match at Ebbsfleet at least. Then Mansfield doubled their lead with a cross from the right which was powerfully finished by Spencer for his second of the day. The third wasn't far off when Spencer converted a penalty awarded for shirt pulling. We did try and get one back but couldn't get through a resolute Mansfield defence. Onto Ebbsfleet away on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! AB

There's a lot to discuss from today's game. This may take a while because I'm really angry about a lot of things.
First of all though, what a great feeling to be part of a massive away support with great singing and proper support for the boys.
Ref's first half performance was a joke. M'Boungou's first yellow was for daring to nick a ball away from a Mansfield player. He clearly got the ball and then the Mansfield player fell over him. Looks like Connor Brown's reputation had gone before him and he got a yellow for his first physical challenge. Worse challenges than that went by all afternoon from both sides without a card.
We had a couple of pot shots, they had the better chances, but Jonny kept us safe for a while. I can't see us keeping Maxted for long, unfortunately. He's league 2 at least. The way they got their goal was a surprise, but the pressure we were under told in the end. A quick break and a free header from 6 yards right in the middle of the goal.
Holden's red card was even more unexpected. I never had him down as a player that would even consider diving in recklessly, let alone at knee height on the back of someone's leg, or in their half. Pointless and stupid, but the ref made the right decision.
Great to see Danny Lowe come on though. Hope he gives Paul Cox some real headaches about who to choose for left back.
M'Boungou should not be dangling a leg out when he's on yellow. Another brainless sending off, even if the first was nowhere near a yellow.
Their second goal was the result of half our defence being in the dressing room. No complaints really, well worked and well taken by a team well above us in the leagues.
Didn't see why the ref gave them a penalty, but the behaviour of the Mansfield mascots at that point was stupid. Goading football fans is never a good idea unless you're spoiling for a fight. Having said that, those people that got into such a state that they were swearing at people dressed in Stag costumes to the extent they were making their own children cry should probably have a long look at themselves in a mirror. Neither side came out well in that exchange.
Whoever it was that broke and threw the chair. It landed on the seat in front of us and nearly hit my son and he got incredibly upset. The words I want to use to describe you are not allowed on this forum, but you have no place at this club. Never come to another game. He's the future of this club and you aren't.
Talking of my son, he asked the most important and insightful question I've heard: When was the last time we scored that wasn't a penalty?

I don’t know how to feel tonight.
Lots to be proud of.
We were in the second round for the first time ever. We took 675 fans to Mansfield on coaches supplied by the club. Great support - vocal and impressive.
We were on the BBC for the second time this season. Surely irrespective of the result this should be a great day. Right?
Lots to be frustrated with though.
Mainly because I think we are shifting expectations. On the down side we feel disappointed not to be in the third round. We feel the team should be doing better. We are still in the bottom four.
It’s a positive though that we expect more.
I’m not sure we always did. I remember the defeat to Luton in the first round proper. The defeat to Crawley. They were to be expected. Today we expected more.
I was disappointed with the bad tackles. I don’t blame the referee. I think we failed to live up to our potential today. I thought we made too many clumsy challenges and made bad decisions.
I don’t agree with the criticism of the management though. This is a work in progress. I agree we are more direct than ever before, but I also remember times when possession led to nothing week in week out. I agree we are more physical than before but I also recall who we always used to feel that the opposition were consistently bigger than us and always bullied us out of games.
The next few weeks are crucial we need to make progress in the league and we need to build more backbone. We have a huge couple of weeks ahead.
COYL!

Kew, fully understand you being upset about the seat incident as all decent GAFC Supporters are, i can tell you a representative of the Club asked the head steward for any CCTV footage of the incident and told them if they can identify the culprit they will be banned from Nethermoor at the very least, i know this to be true as i was present, a very unsavioury incident which the Club to their credit have acted swiftly on.

What a downer on so many levels.
You would have thought that Mansfield might have wanted to sell some programs to us, but none were available at our end. I tweeted Mansfield to send a program seller up at half time, to no avail.
Onward and downward to the match itself where our players seem to think it’s the 1970s where u actually had to break someone’s leg before u got booked. I was wincing at some of the idiotic tackles being put in. We had two sent off and it could have been more. You can have a go at the ref, but these are tackles that are simply not allowed to make and get away with any more. The players need to be much more “street wise”.
That’s now 5 successive games I’ve watched where we have failed to score, or even look like scoring. I don’t know what Lee Molyneux does to earn his starting spot. Hours can go by without him taking anyone on or offering anything creative. This “hoof it up to the big man” is a wet fart of a tactic and has been proven (repeatedly now) to simply not work. Stop it please, it’s horrible to watch too.
Throw in some moronic fan behaviour, both at the ground and on the coach home and it added up to a pretty depressing day.

So was it not a fun day out then? And do we actually have a discipline problem? (I wasn’t there.) I enjoyed the day out but not the way we played with eleven men on the pitch. We actually started passing to each other when we were down to nine and Kevan was on the pitch. M'Boungou is a liability I'm afraid he just doesn't learn. Diving in to challenges that he has no hope of winning and costing the team. No idea what Holden was thinking for his red 'challenge'. More like a flying kung fu kick. It's the first time I've ever seen anything like that from him though so hopefully lesson learned. Thanks. Sounds like it was a a shame the day went that way. There are lots of ways in which we could’ve come away defeated feeling less fed up than this.

Cox will prove to be like Marmite We us a terrific day and owe a big thank you to Steve and John for providing free buses. Spent the pre-match at the Railway Inn which should we ever play MTFC again I would heartily recommend. Great beer and very welcoming locals who were very complimentary of Mr Cox Walking to the ground - all MTFC fans hugely complimentary of Mr Cox Yet ...... We play Hughes at RM when he’s a CM and Hurst is relegated to the bench
No complaints re Holden - a worst tackle you won’t see. Fair play he knew
No complaints re MBouGou - he was off from his first yellow and a braver manager would have subbed in the 1st half
I’m disappointed to hear Cox talk about staying up as his greatest achievement- I’d argue that given all the money the club have spent that’s the least he could achieve. We’ve stayed up with PT managers and PT players - to accept his version is to accept hoofball
Returning to the clubhouse tonight - we asked would we prefer to be back in the CN and winning? It’s difficult but ideally we stay up playing football not hoofball

Think the programme sold out very early, i arrived at the ground around 1:30 and there was none in the shop or at the seller booths around the Mansfield end either

Well apparently the mascot has been sacked, but you are a precious bunch from up North. I thought you Yorkies were not supposed to get upset by the antics of something like a pillock in a microfibre suit. You like to shout Scab (which is hilarious and most doing the shouting weren't even born), but get upset by a mascot, and start running to the stewards lol.
As for Cox, yes we are grateful for his part in getting us out of the conference, but he is a one trick pony and a busted flush, why he's brought Murray up there is baffling. Your overtly physical tactics were a disgrace, so any romance and goodwill was quickly diminished. Concentrate on staying in the league, looks like it will be a long winter for you. For you genuine Guiseley fans, good wishes, for the few Burberry morons lol, well you won't go again will you?

A small part of me is glad. It is all about the league. Cox has a lot to do. He talks a reasonable game, but is now under pressure. Discipline is needed, how many sendings off is that since he came? It is hard enough to get a result with 11 men on the pitch. Look at what Bower is doing with Park Avenue. The players that have come in have a lot to prove.
