In nearly a quarter of a century of watching Guiseley I have never walked out of the ground before the final whistle but I did so today, not caring if they managed to scrape an equaliser or not. I've seen some dire performances in my time but always felt that the team at least were as committed as they could be and with the players they had at least tried, today I have no idea if they cared or not. I've seen better football played by my 8year old grandson and his mates. There were a couple of decent performances both the lads on the wings and Gabe later on in the game, having said that I certainly hope that none of them had the audacity to accept man of the match.

This was the worst performance I have seen from Guiseley this season. We failed to pass the ball, losing possession countless times. Our pace( apart from the wingers- thought our number 11 Abi was excellent) was woeful, Denton lost us the penalty( why didn’t Gabs take it?) Thought Liam seemed out of sorts all game. . We cannot keep losing home games like this to teams way below us in the league. At this rate we won’t finish up in the playoffs in fact we will be lucky to stay in the top half of the table. Something needs to change and fast. Absolutely fed up!🦁

I stopped listening to commentry with about 10 minutes to go when it was still 0-0.Walking the dogs on a cold and very windy night here in Spain seemed a better proposition than Guiseley managing to score.

Yes, poor but tactics really didn't help and I cannot understand why we continued to play with two wingers, one of whom hardly had a kick. It made for an outgunned midfield with Gabby having to drop deep to try and find the ball. Poor Kofi Moore was a spectator for most of the game. Prince and Liam were outnumbered, little wonder that passes went astray. For me, it was the tactics that were wrong, not the players.

Another abject performance today from Denton. He can barely run and his so called aerial ability ends up with the ball at a defenders feet 9 times out of 10. And to top it off Gabriel obviously took pity on him and allowed him to take the penalty which he missed too. Starting to question Andy Welsh's decision making when he picks a player who week in week out offers virtually nothing.
And to top it off its another howler from the keeper - not his first in recent weeks. He came out flapping and made an absolute mess of the corner to gift Gainsborough the win. There's no competition for his place since Wade left and its starting to show.
All too familiar unfortunately - it was exactly the same against Marske. A very unhappy lion tonight.

A very poor performance today and part of a worrying trend. We were poor at Basford but managed to win, poor against Marske and lost a game that will ultimately be void, not great against a very poor Park Avenue but won and very poor today against a well organised Gainsborough side who managed the game better than Guiseley and tactically outplayed us. As others have said that is down to the management who in my opinion picked the wrong team, chose the wrong tactics and most annoyingly failed to change them quickly enough when it was obvious that they weren’t working. We had two wingers but they didn’t see much of the ball as we were outnumbered in the centre of the pitch for most of the game. When they did get the ball and used their pace down the flanks our forwards couldn’t get into danger areas to receive a cross or pass as one is too slow and the other was playing too deep as they were helping out the midfield!!!
We are miles off being a playoff contender based on the last four performances. The momentum we seemed to have under Liam Tongue and in the early matches under Andy Welsh has disappeared. We need to go back to the pacey pressing game that served us well for several weeks and that only works when Whelan and Murphy are in the team. For me that means one of the wingers needs to be sacrificed along with Denton who doesn’t have the legs for that kind of approach. Time for the manager to step up!!

I haven’t posted for a while but all the posts so far sum it up. Nothing more to add as all the contributors have hit the nail on the head. Very occasionally you think is it only yourself that have these thoughts but tactics, players, subs etc were all wrong today and as CDP posted, we’re a country mile off been promotion contenders. We have the players mind you but Welsh has to start earning his corn now as two successive home games we have been awful.

That was totally absent in the first half and not much better in the second.

All said- Liam didn’t have a good game ( who did !! ) but tactically some of his shouting knew what was going on. But bench didn’t change it - something wrong there but hey ho I have seen “poor” teams get promoted but my gut feeling says for Guiseley on todays form an 11th place finish. Happy New Year everyone !!

Outnumbered in midfield, best striker playing as the extra midfielder, one winger constantly involved with no end product, one hardly involved (but looked dangerous occasionally).
We defended well except for the goal.
We were really slow and really flat, and continually made bad decisions in possession.
Our best performances have come playing two up front but we’ve changed shape from then - so we need to change personnel too. Johnson looks lost at 10.
Denton was heavily involved and I dare say would’ve helped us defend the set piece for the goal, but sadly lots will focus on the key chances he didn’t take. Understandable. He looked ready to hang up his boots after the penalty miss.
Liam had a stinker but was clearly frustrated that the shape was wrong/people were wrong for the shape.
Andy’s interview recognises all of this I think, question now is whether we can get momentum back.

A drab game to kick off 2024 at Nethermoor with a first half that barely got going and a second 45 that had more excitement but not enough to get anyone off their seats. Chances were few and far between in the opening 45 with both keepers left relatively untested until stoppage time when Denton's header was just tipped wide by visiting stopper Wharton. The second half did have a bit more to it but even then Battersby had very little to do and Wharton kept his kit clean. Moore earned his side a spot kick after he was hauled down when advancing into the area but Denton blew the chance with his strike coming back off the post. The rebound went no where near a Guiseley man. The whole afternoon the game felt like it had no flow be it fouls, offsides and other stoppages disrupting play. Murphy, Johnson, Denton and others all had goes at breaking the deadlock but the Trinity defence were stubborn blocking everything. With the writing on the wall it seemed almost inevitable that the visitors would strike and they did at the death. Cogill's header with seconds remaining saw the points head to Lincolnshire at the end of a game that will not live long in the memory. Onto Bamber Bridge at home on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! AB

Thought we looked well off it today- Gainsborough did a good job of absorbing most of our pressure and outgunned us in midfield for prolonged periods. Perhaps it’s a different game if Denton bags the penalty but these things happen.
Moore looked a threat when he had the ball, but that was too infrequent for him to make a true impact. Likewise with Murphy who for me should have been on from the start.
From the matches I have seen, I think we have really flattered to deceive over the last few weeks, with a fortunate win over Basford, an unconvincing performance against Hyde, and an underwhelming display at Park Avenue (wasn’t at the Marske game). Clear that something isn’t quite right or working properly with the system and/or in-game tactics, and we don’t look anything close to a play off threatening team at the moment for me.
As an aside our poor league record against Gainsborough continues- one point from our four meetings in the league over the last two seasons.
