Great result - we didn’t boss the game and still won 3-0. They were a good side, it was an even game and tactical tweaks, subs, that free kick and great spirit got us over the line. (I never saw a young Danny Boshell, but) watching Moke is like watching a middle aged Danny Boshell - what a player.
Really like seeing so many of the players’ families in the ground too, that adds a lot to the feelgood vibes to see proud kids and parents celebrating.
Happy days - onwards and upwards!

I agree mostly Nik although I thought they were a poor side and there was a clear gap between them and us in terms of quality and physical condition which I suppose is good as we should be better than them but for a few years we haven’t looked much better?!? We should have been ahead by at least 2 by half time. Dreadful miss by Longbottom and a clear-as-day penalty not given. Second half they tired and we took control. Longbottom looks ridiculously confident when over a freekick but less so when given a chance in the box. Still he scored another cracker in what is likely to become “Goal of Longbottom’s Season” whilst Emmet never looked like not scoring and then Gabby’s assist for Longbottom who nearly managed to sky it. Gabby looks off the pace at present. He’s still quality. He’s much more of a target man than Longbottom and the gap between Longbottom and the rest of the team in the 2nd half was just odd. Still we won comfortably, move into QF3 and have now won 6 on the trot. Can anyone tell me when that last happened? Nik, I definitely agree re the happiness within the club (Owners, Management, Players, Fans) and probably last seen when B&B were at the club To borrow Tuggers … onwards and upwards

Another good win and clean sheet today! We had plenty of chances in the first half but didn’t finish them off, we finally took advantage in the second 45 and killed the game. We had a chance in the first minute when Emmett volleyed over from the edge of the box. Johnson hit three headers over the bar from Lufudu and Ackroyd crosses. Longbottom someone fired just wide at full stretch when Ackroyd’s cross was deflected into his path. 1874 Northwich had a big chance but Mbeka made a crucial block. The visitors started the second half well and it took us a while and a substitution to get going. With 30 minutes left Longbottom fired a trademark free kick into the top corner to finally break the deadlock. Then seven minutes later it was 2-0 when Emmett lofted the ball over Shorthouse from close range. The game quietened down after the second but Longbottom was on hand to add another in the final ten minutes. Johnson found the number 11 who scored from close range to end the contest. A raft of substitutions followed as the Lions booked their place in Monday’s FA Cup draw. Well played Guiseley! Onto Morpeth Town at home on Tuesday night. Come on Guiseley! AB

Strange one today, in the end a comfortable win but the first half we weren't as dominant as I expected us to be bearing in mind the difference in leagues. I also thought that they were a decent footballing team with some skilful players deserving of their league position. It was good that we could juggle the starting line up, bring on our younger less experienced players to give them game time and come away with a result. Nice to see Jordan Thewlis with Lewis Whitham and a mystery man stretching their legs before the game. Looking forward to Tuesday evening and hopefully Leo back.

Mark referred to a potentially incoming full back in his interview, could be related? Wouldn’t surprise me, our transfer business has been so orderly and organised recently.

Where was our loanee Farrell yesterday ?? In his post match interview Mark said that Leo had a twinge in his hamstring and had rested him and Mark sounded confident that he should be fit for Tuesday night against Morpeth.

Some interesting results in the Cup yesterday - Macc hammered South Shields and Bury win away at Blyth whilst Scunthorpe needed a late equaliser away at Newcastle Town. Here’s hoping for a friendly home banana skin in the next round!

I thought we were poor in the first half, didn’t pass the ball well enough and failed to ask enough questions of their well drilled defence. That said, our own defence well marshalled by Lawlor, wasn’t seriously tested either. Some tactical changes at half time and improved passing and movement in the second half, together with another free kick masterpiece from Longbottom resulted in what looked a fairly comfortable scoreline. 1874 Northwich were resolute and well organised and provided a stern test but once the deadlock was broken we took charge. Two things struck me about yesterday’s game. Firstly we missed Farrell’s physical presence as the focal point of our attack and secondly the game completely changed when Moke came on as a substitute after an hour - his range of passing, positional sense and ability to link the play from back to front is huge for us. He has been superb in our current winning run and would be the first name on my team sheet at the moment.

Good win yesterday against one of the best sides we have seen at Nethermoor this season imo and you could see why they had won six out of six. After misfiring in the first half our class told in the second where it was only a matter of time before we won the game.

Looking at yesterday’s results and the possible make up of the pots for the regionalised draw and subject to the outcome of several replays I think a North pot of 20 teams will likely comprise 11 from the NLN, 6 from the NPL and three lower ranked teams - Bury, Wythenshawe and Witton Albion. So one of those three at home would be nice although statistically a NLN team away is more likely!
