As regards the licence there’s standard council bureaucracy and hoops to jump through before it can be finalised. The December date was only the deadline for anyone to submit objections. We’ll get there but as anyone who’s ever tried to get anything out of any council anywhere knows, these things take an inordinately long time because it all has to be signed in triplicate, sent in, sent back, lost, found, queried, subjected to public inquiry, lost again, and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighters.

Didn’t we have a conversation about this in the other thread and the date for decision on the licence application was in December? Not much can be done re selling mulled wine without a licence. I don’t think it’s a wilful refusal to let people spend money or we wouldn’t have had the third kit on sale, the sweet stall and burger folks shivering in their gazebo yesterday. We did but the notice said till 4th December. Whatever, it's boring now. I just think guiseley could learn alot from other clubs at non-league level about increasing revenue. It's not just about what goes on the pitch. What's the point of getting promoted if we can't sustain it. Realistically, will be national league north level and no higher. 1. So we want to know the outcome of that decision - fair enough. 2. I agree but we’re getting better - the things I mentioned from Saturday as examples. 3. There is no club in this division or the one above or the one above that which is self sustaining. Taking the heat off the owners is great, but sustaining playing squad costs on tickets, sponsorship, merch and refreshments is a complete myth.

Will L continues his one-man Goal of the Season campaign. Hard to believe we will be able to keep him beyond Xmas I've joked with friends each time he scores "that's another tenner on his transfer value" and "he'll be gone in the New Year". I've no real idea what typical transfer fees are at the NPL/ NLN level, as fees are almost always reported as undisclosed, but I'd hazard a guess that they are at best in the £30-50K region.
Guiseley seems to suit Will. According to the GAFC website, in his last spell at BPA he scored 11 games in 42 games.
I'd guess whether Will is still with club at the end of the season is in a large part down to the directors. Are they still committed to driving the club forward towards promotion, in the way they were willing to commit serious funds for a 4G pitch, or are their heads going to be turned by a few grand? I wait with bated breath...

Someone said Mark said at the manager evening that Will is happy to be part time because of his PT business.
When we were at our absolute peak we had some of the very best part time players in the region, and we found that switching to signing the very worst full timers took the heart out of the team. Look at how Jake comes back a fan favourite after spending an extended period with us part time - that’s what we should be aiming to do again IMO, keep hold of quality part time players who can take responsibility for their own fitness for longer than just a season. Knowing Mark will be wanted to continue helps of course, were Marcus and Russ the last ones who had a proper run in charge?

That's an interesting point you make about the quality of part-time players. During the recent broadcast of Wealdstone's (of the NL) moment in the FA cup sun, it was mentioned that they weren't full-time, but a part/full-time hybrid. I think there was one other "hybrid" team. Wealdstone are hovering around the relegation zone, much like Guiseley were during much of their dizzying spell in the NL even after the club tried to go full time. I guess it all comes down to whether one measures success in terms of regularly putting points on the board and challenging for promotion, or grimly trying to hold on in a higher division even with a large injection of cash from the magic money tree.
