Mark Bower and Danny Boshell have left Avenue today. To be fair to BPA, they gave them both longer to "turn it around" than we did with Mr PP but ultimately both have ended up at the same end conclusion. Don't think anyone would be surprised at this especially after Sat's result at Basford. They need an inspired temp to take over & get BPA winning (except on NYD of course ) Rallyman

Having seen them play against us earlier in the season, their style was better to watch than the dross we were being served at the time but it seemed budget restrictions had left them quite young and lightweight.
But in truth, the whole club seems to be in disarray over there, everything from the stadium and staff structure to the fanbase and long term vision seems to be up for argument over on their forum. 'Admin' and his other account will be delighted that they've gotten what they wanted from Day Zero, but I fear BPA have much bigger concerns to address than their coach if they're to continue.

Their fans forum is always a good read full of derogatory and demeaning comments and thats just the Admin! If the fans in-fighting is a reflection of how the club is run then the new manager is going to need a fleet of JCBs to shovel the smelly stuff.

I see BPA's game is off tonight due to wind damaging the ground in particular to their dug-outs.
Not having much luck at the moment.

Quite amusing goings on at today’s opponents FC united. They announced the signing of Bobby Grant, the manager of Radcliffe last season, yesterday evening to much fanfare including the release of a video interview where Grant waxed lyrical about his new club.
This morning, united announced that Grant had rung them last night to say he had received a better offer and would no longer be signing for them. Interested to see where he has ended up.

Hope his latter offer falls through and he ends up with no club.

Looks like Macclesfield have signed Oumar Niasse ahead of our game on Saturday.. once a £13.5m signing for Everton. Still only 33.

Jeez, he's played in league one and two in the last twelve months. Crazy.

I’m tempted to say…£13.5 million….for Everton? Everton? £13.5 million? Their mistakes, stupid decisions and poor choices are surely legion. It certainly doesn’t mean he’s good …or anywhere near worth such a sum of money! He may be too good for our league, but he sounds an excellent example of the gross, monstrous, and over-arching greed associated with the …contemporary Premier League. This is the league, where money is literally thrown around on players, some of whom are no more than competent or adequate, because the club ‘can’. It’s almost ‘buy first…worry about how good they are later.’ And, a lot of that money, should be filtering down the leagues. The reason the top tier is as rich as it is, is because it long ago chose not to share out money more fairly/equitably, but keep most of it for the clubs in that league. I personally hope the ‘bubble’ bursts eventually. I think it might, rather like the 2008 financial crash. After boom often comes ‘bust’! A lot of clubs currently hide massive debts behind huge loans. If/when it does, I’ll have no sympathy for these teams.
And, then perhaps football can start again. The game WILL endure, financial madness always ends in tears…. eventually!

Premier League is cash rich because they looked at how the NFL did things in the US and then established the PL as a product that would appeal to the masses which has made it the best football league in the world whether we like it or not. Player wages might be extortionate but the clubs have to pay the going rate within the Financial Fair Play rules which Everton have fallen foul of and the same mentality has also filtered down to the non-league level where several clubs have gone bust chasing the dream over the last few years.
And the money does filter down in the form of grants and from what I read earlier this week thats around £915m for the EFL and non-league, so I dont go along with bashing the PL because its a natural progression of the structure of the game and if the Lions were competing with the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Newcastle etc; yuo wouldn't see me complaining!

Well, that’s where you and I differ. I don’t want anything to do with the Premier League. And, I like to ‘bash’ the Premier league at each and every opportunity! I think it is detrimental to football further down, generally, in this country. I don’t get into the argument of which is the ‘best league in the world’, but I wonder how many really want to watch eg Bournemouth v Wolves or Luton v Everton etc etc. And, isn’t that why Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs etc are keen to join a super league? They want to, but it isn’t diplomatically possible to admit it right now. That’s why they backed down previously-the driver is greed/selfishness, utter disregard for other clubs. They probably will eventually. There are many clubs living on the edge financially, many with huge debt and there has been a campaign to look into how money can can be shared more equitably down the pyramid. It’s been covered by ‘When Saturday Comes’ and elsewhere. All the evidence of ‘trickle down’ that I’ve read about, suggests it does NOT to the degree the Premier League advocates say it does. But, then they constitute the football establishment who would prefer no real change. I think we all know why! I don’t like the present status quo and believe change is needed. You are entitled to your view, but I disagree. I would never watch Newcastle United now or any team owned by disreputable owners. Neither would I follow a Premier League team, Guiseley included! I’d find another lower league team before I ever did that!

Its a tricky one. When I started following GAFC, we had Steve Parkin’s money which undoubtedly helped our climb to the National League and when he or his family pulled the plug triggered our subsequent drop through the divisions. I’ve enjoyed bits of both eras. The team under Kitty was a joy to watch and 4 goals at home seemed common. Promotion at Chorley. Playing at Nethermoor with TV cameras. Beating the all-conquering Lincoln. The first season under Russ & Marcus where they saved our club with that FA Cup run. And I’ve really enjoying the last couple of months which for me reminds me of the optimism under Kitty but this time appears more sustainable for the owners/club. Looking back now, I wish Parkin had given us covering at both end rather than employ PC…. Anyways back to Macc and their signing. As Nik said, this is bonkers. His last club was Morecambe and he played! As LW states (sorry AB), Everton sure know how to overspend on players! Macc manger is Alex Bruce supported by Savage’s old OT cronies. Macc are in a League of their Own at this level. The surprise is how poorly they’ve performed this season. Most of us had them nailed on for promotion. Want GAFC to win even more on Saturday

The Premier League has changed the game in this country forever and although there will be tweaks along the way the elite clubs will remain with other clubs striving to join them. The same is also happening in rugby union and rugby league so it seems to be the way of the world at present and while I agree with some of what you say the PL is an ustoppable force that exerts a dispraportionate amount of influence over football in the UK. But as the old saying goes 'he who pays the piper calls the tune'.

But then again, if you don’t like the tune, “change the record!” I only listen to music I like, as a rule!
You are obviously an admirer of the Premier League and are all for it, where I am just the opposite. I could go on at length, listing many reasons and arguments as to why I feel this way, but I think you’re in your corner on this and I am in mine. So, we’ll have to agree to differ on this one.
