Really don’t know what to make of that. 1-0 down with 10 men you’d take a point but the first half at Lancaster remains the only time in 6 games when we have looked like a cohesive team who could mount a promotion challenge.

I honestly think that we could have won that game if we'd put out the strongest team from the off.Start Tom Denton who I have a lot of time for,and the opposition know its balls lobbed forward and our mid field taken out of the equation. So wrong decision Mr.Phillips and I don't want to hear the excuse of tired legs unfortunately it was tired legs chasing the wrong game plan that I feel lead to the injuries to very important players. Too many cards received by the Guiseley team at the moment does that mean we have rubbish refs or are instructed to go in hard where that leads to plain to see.

I'm the eternal optimist and always back a manager and the team but I'm increasingly disillusioned with what we are getting from this manager. We are not playing well. We were poor today until the red card after which it was backs against the wall. The players are putting the effort in and I think we have some good players in there but they aren't setup well and are not putting it together. They signed good players in pre-season but we're six games in and back to a conveyor belt of new signings every week, often making a cameo one game appearance never to be seen again (where's the lad from Grimsby who was good enough to start last week gone). Phillips publicly blamed the players (or at least some of them) last season.. well I think this season he needs to take some on himself. I'll probably feel bad for saying this later but it's an hour after the game and I feel a bit fed up.
..anyway, on a brighter note it was a lot of fun this afternoon. How it ended up with 4 red cards I don't know. It wasn't a particularly nasty game (maybe a bit niggly but nothing more). I think they look a lot better with Kallan upfront. He encourages better play than having Denton. I actually like Denton but the team can't seem to help but want to whack it towards his head.

BPA will be gutted. We were absolutely awful before the game broke down and they should’ve been miles out of sight. Once again you could drive Bob Blackburn’s untaxed Bentley through the gaps in our defence.
We toughed it out after going to ten men which shows great commitment. Frustrating to lose key players to injury and suspension in the process.
It was great entertainment but I’m still worried.

I agree the first 30 minutes was poor but the spirit after was admirable. Sometimes a gutsy performance can kick-start a season. Kallan Murphy was immense today.

They've looked a much better time every time Kallan has been on the pitch. He was great today. I'm hoping the injury he picked up wasn't too serious.

That was just like watching the Droylesden team that Phillips used to play for. All about the aggression, and hope the other team get dragged in to it.
Abysmal first half hour, showed spirit later on.
A strange game with the cards. Chippendale could have gone before he did. Their full back who went second half could have been off before half time. Jamie Spencer was going if he hadn't been subbed. Murphy got away with another elbow (Avenue say Havern has had to go to hospital). According to Bower's interview the last red was for a challenge the linesman said had nothing in it. Poor from the officials today.

Lge: GUISELEY 2 v BPA 2 Monday 28/08/23
This was a scrappy match punctuated by too many yellow cards (though deserved) of which I lost count and a good few reds too. Niggly and occasionally spiteful at times, the football on show was not great, but all four goals were taken well (though the team losing them probably would have complaints to make about their defences, in the ways they were conceded!) Some of the yellows were just plain stupid, and certainly costly when the second yellow followed! Guiseley were first to go down to ten men, whilst BPA were in the ascendency and it looked very ominous at that point. But, perhaps strangely, with ten men Guiseley began to play a bit better and put their local rivals under more pressure. For me, not the most enjoyable football experience, but I did particularly appreciate the quality of Gabriel Johnson’s goal, and the Lions’ second, was also well put away by Kallan Murphy. (I want to see KM playing in the first eleven in most games!) BPA might feel the most disappointed at losing two points, because at one stage it looked likely they’d run away with it. But, Guiseley fought back well, and in the end a draw was just about fair. But, Guiseley are falling further and further behind in the league race, with another two points gone at home. And, the manager’s prediction in the first programme of the season that we could win this league looks more and more unlikely, and even foolish!

We are a bit like a jigsaw at the moment - all the right pieces but not in the right places . Have say I enjoyed the game immensly everything from a local derby and it was a point gained rather than 3 lost! I didnt think it was a particulary dirty game so not quite sure how it ended 2-2 Sendings off not goals Once CMW returns Id think we will tighten up at the back and there is a long way to go in the season.

Havern was in the club house having a beer so guessing he was ok and didn’t need hospital treatment

Well, what a crazy game, four red cards and four goals. When was the last time that happened! First half Avenue were definitely the better side and more than worthy of their lead at the break but I thought we showed some steel in the second 45 to take a hard earned point out of the game. BPA had got in a couple of times before their opening goal but it came from an attack down the right hand side and Longbottom couldn't really miss from two yards out to break the deadlock. Chippendale got his first yellow for a rash challenge not long before and his afternoon ended very early when he was shown a second caution and a red. This was after Johnson had gone close to equalising and we wasted a good opportunity from a free kick. Stacey beat everyman in his sight with half an hour gone but couldn't find the power to beat Sykes-Kenworthy from a narrow angle. Six minutes before the break the scores were level though when Johnson headed home a great ball into the box. He nearly had his second of the afternoon just before half time but there was GSK to make a good save. It was a vital moment as up the other end Hopper had the freedom of Guiseley to put the visitors in front with a volley. We got off to a good start in the second half with Johnson testing Sykes-Kenworthy but it was Murphy who struck. He swivelled in the box and tucked the ball under GSK to haul us level again. This gave us some good belief and with the introductions of Pratt and new signing David Bayoh we really forced our way into the game. GSK didn't have a lot to do that being said and it was Battersby who had to make a good double save to deny BPA. With 15 minutes left the visitors were down to ten when Odunston was shown a second yellow card. With a minute left Brown got his second yellow and we were down to nine before Hopper added his name to the list of red cards for an off the ball incident. The 10 minutes of added time were played out and both sides had to settle for a draw. Attention now turns to the FA Cup. Come on Guiseley! AB
