The club have today mutually agreed with Paul Phillips to end his contract. Read the statement in full here: guiseleyafc.co.uk/club-statement-paul-phillips/ Thank you to Paul and his team for all their efforts over the past year or so, their support during a difficult time for my family will never be forgotten. Best wishes to all of them for their future careers. Liam Tongue will take caretaker charge assisted by Martin Foster and Kyle O'Reilly who are already at the club. AB

Overdue sadly, never had a good run without Lewis Whitham which suggests an over reliance on individuals. This season the team has been less than the sum of its parts which suggests the same problem. Other teams have come with limited looking players but clear plans of what to do with the ball and how to nullify our direct game. It can’t just be that we’ll look rubbish until Prince is fit - most teams in the division don’t have a midfielder that good on their books.
So now - who would we want to see instead?
It’s a big moment and my knowledge of managers in this division is next to none.

Not surprising, beyond the timing of it maybe. I feel a little sorry for him now. In his interview from the last game he sounded genuinely pained that the team weren't putting in the performances he wanted. But then I don't remember the last time Guiseley put in a truly decent performance.
The season's still early so plenty of time for someone to come in and do a job with this team. Plenty of decent players in there.

Said before if club were going to make this decision, with no game on Sat, these 2 weeks were the time they'd probably do it. Surprised it's taken them until Friday or is that just when they've announced it I wonder. Also applications for job cab ne made to James until next Friday, so club is not going to have anyone permanent in before next game on 23rd, but gives Liam & team the opportunity to have a go. Still feel it early without PP being given a full chance this term, but if it was "by mutual agreement", then so be it.
Again as said, I no nothing about good managers at this level (or any other for that matter), hence we wait & see who is brought in.

Glad the club has been decisive and not waited til Christmas to see how we are doing.: We need a manager who can get the best out of players and sadly for whatever reasons it wasn’t working under PP. I hope we get a manager whose style is to encourage flowing skilful football and not hoof ball!

When Paul Phillips came to the club we were just about recovering from the Cox debacle and to my mind frankly had suffered what appeared to be Marcus's indifference,so our hopes were high as we ignored warnings about his man management and style of play. Oh hindsight you wondrous thing. End of last season was a bitter disappointment, we soaked up excuses and were prepared to start this season with a clean slate, but leopards and spots comes to mind. If its any help and my partner can bear testimony I am an excellent judge of character can spot a wrong un from 150yds if the board need extra help at interviews. Oh sorry no will be down under so just this thought, better the devil you know!!

I'd have Kittrick back in a heartbeat.

I'd have Kittrick back in a heartbeat. His recent record is poor Maybe so, but his Guiseley record wasn't. He was within minutes of keeping a hopeless Guiseley team in the NLN.

Definitely the right decision. Timing a little odd given the 2w break. I’ve no idea as to who manages at this level and who’s available BUT… Suspect GAFC is still a decent gig. For many, still perceived as a National League (North) Team A decent budget at this level. Aspirations to go higher. AND… A good squad currently (Just listen to Bowsers interview)
Anyways… I hope we go for someone who has a connection to Guiseley or the Locality. The 2 Pauls (PC, PP) put you off an outsider! I hope we go for someone who is less direct! Whoever comes in will need to work with Russ O’Neill and current squad.
Finally… I think Kitty could definitely do a job with our current squad. BUT the Board rejected him so can’t see him being considered

We suffered a club record 6 nil home defeat and threw away a chance to stay up with bad substitutions in his last spell Not for me this time

I’d have Kitty back. He knows the Guiseley way of doing things, and he was Guiseley through and through. He knows us and we know him, and we played the best football I’ve seen at Nethermoor under him.

If we want old friends, then it surely has to be B&B
