It will be interesting to see how Bowser-Bosh line the team. I always thought we played 4-4-2. Strong defence. Hard-working midfield. It’ll be interesting to see who they bring in and whether they bring in any of their old BPA contingent. I think it’s very encouraging that those who’ve signed on are talking about challenging for promotion and seem enthused to work with B&B and their plans for the squad. Exciting times. I’d have kept a few more than CDP but mainly for squad depth (eg the Irish boys) but whether they’d accept a squad role who knows? Agree the Irish lads could be decent squad players and I think Walker would have been as well. One of the reasons we struggled at times last season in my view was a lack of squad depth compared with the best sides in the league

Defensively I'd keep Ashman then a couple of strong big buggers, build from the back.Nippy clever mid field, Boshells one of the best I've ever seen, so he knows what to look for .I'm looking forward to seeing a Lewis /Johnson combination, could be very interesting. As we all know depends on budget and who wants to come, but can't see a lot more money forthcoming unless one of us wins the lottery. Anyway already bought my season ticket.

One of the reasons we struggled at times last season in my view was a lack of squad depth compared with the best sides in the league Although by last couple of months, we had our strongest bench but performed our worst. One of the “go-to” quotes from all those signed-on is that there was too much “chop-and-change” when to me it felt less than the previous season and much less than the Locky-PC-Taylor Swift’s OH season. Still, I think we all hope for a settled 20-player squad with a few astute additions at the right time that produce more than the expected. Oh we can dream…

Jordan Thewlis has returned to the club on a two year contract after a previous spell with us in the 2021/22 season: guiseleyafc.co.uk/thewlis-makes-nethermoor-return/Thewlis finished last season as Alfreton Town's top scorer in the Vanarama National League North and struck 25 times in 69 appearances for the Derbyshire side. Welcome back Jordan! AB

That on paper looks a very good signing to me. Jordan scored seventeen league goals last season which was the fifth highest in the NL North, and you would think he might be more prolific at a slightly lower level- Alfreton’s Twitter page also suggests he chose to leave.

Jordan's signing looks like a statement of intent to me.

Excellent signing you would expect at NPL level. Here we go again. It’s the hope…

Blimey. On Twitter, Alfreton fans were expecting he’d stay at NLN or go up a division. Scored nearly 20 goals this season so if he can do that and Gabs has another good season then we’ve addressed one of our main deficiencies this season compared to the best few teams. (The other would involve us improving the defence…)

Jake Wright is another serious signing. These first two new signings have been playing well in the division above, hope we have some budget left over for midfield but it looks like we mean business so far.

Confirmation that Jake Wright has joined the club following his release from Buxton: guiseleyafc.co.uk/jake-wright-joins-the-lions/The forward has plenty of National League and National League North experience having played for Boston, Scarborough, York City, Harrogate Town and Gateshead. Welcome to Guiseley Jake! AB

6 goals in 22 matches last season for Buxton and 8 in 41 the season before for Boston doesn’t exactly set the pulse racing but I do like the fact we are signing players with good NLN experience which should be very useful in the NPL.

Welcome to GAFC Adriano Moke: guiseleyafc.co.uk/experienced-moke-signs-for-the-lions/The midfielder has plenty of higher level experience with several teams including York City, Cambridge United, Tamworth, Macclesfield Town, Wrexham Boreham Wood, Wrexham, Spennymoor Town and many more. Another good piece by Rachel on the link above with quotes from Moke and Mark Bower. AB
