This is some exciting recruitment. Has somebody turned the financial taps on again? I doubt it - looks like a smaller squad but with much more NLN experience. Most have connections to us/Mark/Russ which might explain how we’re able to land them? |

Lufudu is another excellent signing. Slightly concerned as to where that leaves Ollie B. We Ned a replacement for Reece K (unless he and his dad have decided he’s staying). We have the basis for a very strong team. Will be interesting to see how Bows plays. I always thought he was a 4-4-2 but what we have seems best suited for 5-3-2 or 5-2-1-2

Lucas is not just any old right back. You’ve got a good one there. Avenue’s player of the season and captained the side for a large part of last year. Capable of playing at a higher level and still hungry for full time football. I wish Lucas all the best at Guiseley and I’ll definitely be popping along to see how he does. Reunited with Mark and Danny of course, a management team I have a lot of time for.

Well that's a ringing endorsement. Apart from anything, we need really good characters and if he was Mark's captain so young then he sounds like a good addition. God knows how we're gonna pick our right backs now, we've got three great ones.

God knows how we're gonna pick our right backs now, we've got three great ones. Just to be clear, he wasn’t appointed captain by Mark. When the management team left one or two senior players also departed and that’s when Odunstan got the captaincy. He only stayed with us last season after our relegation from NLN due to his loyalty to Mark and Danny. I think you’ll find he’s a really good lad and a talented player. Incidentally, he was sent off at Nethermoor last year. That was completely out of character. To be honest it wasn’t a pleasant match. |

Thanks for that, understood. Yeah that game was pretty grim - mainly because we were playing pretty grim football at the time. I was alarmed at how aggressive and disorganised we were that day, thankfully we made a change soon after.

The full back has joined the club on a two year contract following his departure from Bradford (Park Avenue), he was brought to the Horsfall by Mark Bower and Danny Boshell a couple of years ago. Joe Ackroyd was too good for the level last time he played for us. If he’s the same player then we have a great option to play alongside Prince or further forward.
Our squad is full of people who have chosen to be here when they would have found other clubs readily. I’m finding it impossible not to feel excited now.

I’ve no idea how we’ve managed to get Joe Ackroyd back again, but he’s one heck of a good signing, and he’ll be terrific alongside Prince.
Roll on the new season, and all the thrills that I think could be awaiting us therein…

Joe is an amazing signing. He was a real bright spark in a poor season when he was with us. I didn't expect to see him back again as he looked to have the attributes to compete further up the league.
I'm so excited for the new season. Every player we've signed up has the quality to be playing at a higher level. I wasn't going to renew my season ticket as I might not be able to make it to every game this year.. but I pulled the trigger last week. The best thing I think is that these are great signings, but also known quantities. It's like we're getting the band back together. Also, looking at the list of signed players. There are 16 players and I would think all 16 of them would expect to be in the starting XI. It's a really strong lineup.
Can't wait for Bradford on Saturday!
