Do we know if any of the players under contract next year. I thought JJ had signed till end of next season? Or would they have release clauses in them if relegated?

As far as I'm aware there is only JJ signed for next season. Although he may or may not have a relegation release clause in there. Those sorts of things are very rarely ever made public.

I think out of the current squad, I can only see half a dozen or so of them being here next season, and those in my mind are predominantly made up of academy graduates plus JJ (subject to any release clause). And sadly they don't include Josh Stones or Ollie Brown, although I'd love them both to be here, but I think bigger things beckon, especially given the rumours earlier in the season about the likes of Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic looking at Stones.

Sadly, I'm resigned to thinking we'll have seen the last of the likes of Cantrill, Spencer, Hutchinson, Ekpolo, Felix, Hollins and co. Which is a shame, as if those key players stayed and we build around them we could have a reasonable shout next season of a top-half campaign.

Hope I'm wrong though and even just a couple of them stick around!

Think we all know at the start of any season a lot of new faces are given a chance in the pre season games. I would like to see a mixture of youth and experience not just relying on the academy players as we had to do this season.

Hopefully we can be better prepared for the season this time round. I think the uncertainty deriving from Covid hit our transfers last pre-season. It felt like other teams were signing players six weeks before we did which I put down to us not being in a position to commit while it wasn't entirely 100% that the season was going to go ahead or whether crowds would be allowed. I wonder how many players we missed out on for this reason.
