So in the space of 24 hours we’ve lost arguably the most promising young player the Academy has produced of late and promptly signed a 30 year old guy who appears to have lost interest playing at step 5.
We’ve had better 24 hours but maybe this is a sign of where we are heading and we’d best get used to it.

Bit harsh. Players always come and go. Seems to me the board/management are quickly developing their new squad. Don't usually have this many names confirmed at this time of year.

After losing key players from midfield hope Luke is the new Prince. Glad to see we are making new signings early and not relying entirely on loan players or borrowing players from the academy. Onwards and upwards.

Ruins the fun of the friendlies guessing who the 9 unnamed players are if you ask me. Remember the excitement of trying to work out who the guy with the headband was (Aram Soleman) or the huge centre-back (Andy Hollins) or Kaine. Best bit of pre-season.
Seriously though, I'm glad with how things are coming together. We've got a good core coming together. Disappointing to lose the young lads but it's their decision. Unfortunately, even a young lad with 20 league games to his name like Ollie Brown is registered with an agency who will be on the lookout for the best club for them.

I remember when Andy Hollins was Jake Day’s younger brother.

I spent all of last pre season referring to Regan Hutchinson as ‘Phil Foden’ on account of the bleach blonde hair.

I remember when Andy Hollins was Jake Day’s younger brother. I get the feeling the management were gearing up to play a direct system as the signings were all big lads and wingers.. which makes it odd that they switched to playing out from the back and benching the giants. I'd have loved Jake to get a proper chance.

Sad to see Ollie Brown leave the club for Alfreton, he developed a lot last season and looks to have a bright future ahead of him, it would have been nice to see that happen at Nethermoor but it's not to be.
Good luck Ollie! AB

Yeah and whoever was choosing the tactics forgot to tell the players.

If Adam’s updated the squad at the top of this thread we have eleven players confirmed. We could play a 5-3-2 tomorrow if we had to! Could be just me but eleven before the end of June actually feels like a lot. I’d be interested to know how many were confirmed by the same point last year. I also suspect they’re not done just yet. There’s still quite a few ‘invited back to training’ and that often yields a few staying on. And there’ll be other players that haven’t been announced yet, or coming on trial. So I’m not concerned, and as has been mentioned already, we’re pretty much starting from scratch because of the relegation. For the record I think George could’ve aimed a lot higher than a Billy Heath team, but what can you do? They’re still in the NLN (presumably offering NLN level wages) and we’re not. Good luck to him. Be great to see him back in a Guiseley shirt one day, WHEN we get back up.

Odd moves for both Brown and Cantrill if you ask me - I’m assuming they were not purely on a football basis though. I guess rumours of Alfreton’s potential for requesting voluntary relegation due to money worries really was just pie in the sky stuff!
In terms of our recruitment I’m pleasantly surprised with how it’s going. A couple more would be nice but otherwise I always think pivotal signings come in the latter stages of pre season - particularly from the hopefully extensive trialist pool!

We’ve got more of a squad than you’d expect for the time of year. Missing some flair and pace generally and obviously there’s a few basic spots yet to fill, like right back and central midfield. But we’ve got a core of players and most of the spine of a team.
