Odd moves for both Brown and Cantrill if you ask me - I’m assuming they were not purely on a football basis though. I guess rumours of Alfreton’s potential for requesting voluntary relegation due to money worries really was just pie in the sky stuff! In terms of our recruitment I’m pleasantly surprised with how it’s going. A couple more would be nice but otherwise I always think pivotal signings come in the latter stages of pre season - particularly from the hopefully extensive trialist pool! If they want to go and play for Billy Big B*****ks then that's their lookout. Always remember standing under the dressing room window at halftime as he tore into his squad when we beat them in the Play-Semi-Final win at North. Prime example of how not to manage and his reaction to the defeat was priceless!

I'd have been surprised if any of our best players (Kaine, Prince, George) stayed and this is how it's gone. Bit surprised about Brown, I thought he might go to the youth setup of a bigger club but if he was going to stay in non-league I figured it would be with us. At least Haw and Hey have signed up again. It will good to see them get more game time next season.
I think George is good enough for better but the reality is that he was the best player in a very poor side last season so it's a difficult sell for him to get a bigger move. Maybe a year at Alfreton will give him a better shop window.

I have no inside info but it felt like whoever was choosing the players to sign was different to whoever was choosing the tactics. Yeah and whoever was choosing the tactics forgot to tell the players. Tactics feels like a strong word here.

Ethan Cartwright has signed up, having previously been in the "invited back" group, so that suggests a move driven by Cantrill's decision to move on. Whilst it's a shame to lose George, I thought Ethan looked very promising in the games he played and with a full pre-season behind him I think he could be a very good player.
I'd imagine there might be a couple more lined up to sign depending on the decisions made by other players offered terms (I think Hollins and Hutchinson are yet to decide unless I've missed something).

Sad to see George leave the club but as many have stated above it was something that almost felt inevitable.
George has really developed with us and is backed by a great family, good luck to all the Cantrill's for the future. AB

He got injured by a corner flag at Kettering which I think might be near of the top of the list of “Most Guiseley Things to Happen” last season.

Andy Hollins has also left the club despite receiving a new contract offer. He has signed for Marine to be closer to home.
Andy was a good addition to the side last season and developed as a player but this move makes perfect sense for him to cut down his travelling and return to a side he has previously played for.
Good luck Andy!

Maybe the Danny's can put on their persuasive heads and convince him to give another season a go. He looks like a lad who enjoys playing football and needs to know we the supporters appreciate his efforts.

AB Adam - just a thought, but is there any way you could pep up signings like this? Perhaps it might have persuaded George to stay.

Sad to see both George and Andy depart and wish them well. But hey we have another season to llok forward to and a host of new faces most of which I am hoping I can name come January 2023 unlike last year when we had so many changes it was difficult to keep track!
