Didn't see this coming but somehow I'm not surprised. We have spent money on players and a lot of those signed around 0pre-season have now moved on.
Granted we have made some quality signings as Saturdays win showed but we have given away some soft goals that have been to our detriment.
Not saying that I agree with the decision but as we all know football management is a fickle business.

Very disappointing. If you want Guiseley to do well and could pick anyone to help them do that it would be Danny Ellis.
I too would be interested to hear what the directors ambitions are. Presumably not to return to the National League. A sign of ambition would have been to appoint Craig Elliott when he was available last season, rather than carry on with them two.
I heard towards the end of last season that one of the directors was very vocal about who he thought should be this season's manager, and I fully expect that O'Neill will be announced in due course. At which point I will be finding something else to do with my Saturdays.
Meanwhile, no word on the club identifying an individual who, unless I have incorrectly interpreted what I read on Facebook, was on the supporters coach at the weekend.

I find this news unbelievable, and I think the supporters deserve a better explanation than the brief statement. I’m sure that the fact that Danny was coming back to the club was one of the reasons that a lot of people who were deliberating whether or not to renew their season tickets after the disappointment of last season did so because of that. The whole atmosphere at the ground has been great even when we didn’t get the results we hoped for, but we all understood the size of the task that the two Danny’s had taken on, but now just when things are looking brighter and the team look settled this happens. It’s so disappointing and not a great advert for the club.

There is a Club Statement on the website now, Danny Forrest will take over as Interim Manager assisted by Martin Foster. Read in full here or below: guiseleyafc.co.uk/club-statement-danny-ellis/We can confirm that we have today parted company with Manager Danny Ellis. We appreciate that our supporters may be surprised and disappointed with this decision given Danny’s long service to the club as a player and having only recently returned to the club as manager. Danny took over in May and had to build a new team following relegation. However, the board of directors are ambitious for the club and felt that, given the investment of time and commitment needed to deliver these goals, a change was needed now to give the squad the best chance of achieving our aims this season. Danny Forrest, assisted by Martin Foster, will take over as Interim Manager and has the full backing of the board to progress the development of the playing staff and the team. We would like to thank Danny Ellis for his contribution to our club and wish him every success in the future. AB OK, the board of directors say "However, the board of directors are ambitious for the club and felt that, given the investment of time and commitment needed to deliver these goals, a change was needed now to give the squad the best chance of achieving our aims this season." So what are the aims of the board for this season? Perhaps they would like to comment on what their aims are? I don't think the aims have changed, the aims from the start of the season for the board and for Danny & Danny were to make the playoffs, so presumably that's still the aim with whoever comes in after this interim basis. Still doesn't make this decision seem right at all though. The one thing I hadn't noticed though, was that because of the sides in the bottom 4 picking up results, we're only 3pts above the relegation zone. Nothing to say we wouldn't have picked up some results though, and off the back of the on-pitch performance and result on Saturday, going to Liversedge this weekend looked like a real opportunity for Danny & Danny to push the side on and hopefully get into another decent run of form to move us up the table.

Unbelievable!! Can’t believe this. What is going on - think my season ticket will be discarded at the end of the season. There must be some underlying reason why Danny is going - if not then I think it is the board who have urinated into the bottle !!

Scandalous decision. The board should be utterly ashamed of themselves for sacking a club legend who was creating a great bond between management, players and supporters.
Is this the same dynamic board that took all season to see what the rest off us could see long before last Christmas about the previous management team?
They talk about “ambitions” - please tell us what these are cos it’s as clear as mud.

Its a very odd decision and one that even hours later doesn’t make a great deal of sense. My questions: The timing is so odd, particularly after winning at Warrington to reach the 3rd round FAT. Why is Danny F staying? I thought they came as a couple How will the team made up of Dannys mates react? Presumably badly What happens to his playing contract? Presumably nulled Is he still with the Academy? What are the ambitions of the Board? Always felt that the 2 Dannys were more ambitious than the Board. Presumably a new manager will mean a whole new squad? Is this linked to Pee-Gate?? There must be something that’s gone on behind the scenes and will we ever know? Im completely baffled

What a strange few days. I’d been very much hoping that Danny’s status as an all time favourite player would somehow guarantee a great run as our manager.
But he thankfully leaves with his status as a club legend untarnished - despite his injuries he can still play this level of football in his sleep and accordingly he ended up playing more games than he originally intended.
Danny was always kind to us nerds and I was surprised a couple of years back that he remembered me and came over for a chat while he was coaching the youngsters one weekday. I’ve still not bumped into him to say hi since he came back, I thought there was no rush.
As for the decision itself… it’s hard to understand from what we have. I don’t think the owners would want to change from their plans so soon, just to mess with everyone. This board haven’t been trigger-happy either - when performances were poor their previous management got plenty of time. Performances haven’t been bad like last season. That suggests there must be more to this than we know, but we’ve no idea what.
Thankfully we have another capable manager on the books and he now has the chance to show he can lead, with the two sessions he’s presumably got this week. Not sure I’m ready to look any further ahead than that!

Given our league position a win at Liversedge is now crucial if we are ot to be dragged into the relegation struggle. At least we're not as bad as York where John Askey who took them up to the National League last season was dismissed last week by the club asking him to pick up a document from the printer that said your sacked mate!

This is the final straw for me. How many more nuts decisions can this board of clowns make ? It all started with the sacking of Mark Bower. Then we had half the squad going full time, Cox, the scrapping of the Women's team and those two incompetents Bignot & O'Neil. After 25 or so years, that's it for me. Danny Ellis is a club legend and deserves a better club than this one. So do I !

My thoughts, for what they are worth:-
Initial recruitment was not great. Players fool you in pre season.
With hindsight getting an older head like Russ (who won't want to manage on his own) to help with recruitment from the start may have helped.
As expected results been a mixed bag, but with a new management and team you expect that.
Danny E has probably been our best defender this season.
We won on Saturday..Given peegate is an absolute embarrassment and annoyance to all of us.
Winable game on Saturday coming. No need to panic yet as the league is tight and difference in teams is minimal.
Board make a decision which is clouded in mystery. Which manager announced first?
Openess and transparency from all/those in charge has been missing for too long. The lack of it as you'll have read from posts above is telling.
Some sort of change in strategy, mindset and real fan engagement is desperately required.
What are the aims, objectives and measures of success for the club? Not transparent as far as I can see?
The plastic pitch idea is years behind the curve. Following when it's too late rather than innovating.
I've really not enjoyed the last few days!

You know one of the things that I am reluctantly beginning to take away from all this is,that the fans opinions on things is of no interest to our board and we are still treated like mushrooms. A blanket PR statement appeases no one. Or just a thought,is the sale of more players in the offing and Danny objected to the decimating of his squad.

It is absolutely clear that the fans opinions on things are of no consequence to the board, but it's been that way for years. For years now what is discussed behind the scenes is shrouded in secrecy and all we've ever got are blanket PR statements like the one here. There's been very little, if any, openness from board level for many years now and fans have often felt they are treated with suspicion - I can think of several instances of this.
As I said before, this is the final straw for me and I won't be coming back. I'm not prepared to be treated with contempt any longer. Mark Bower's sacking a few years ago was a disgusting decision after all he gave to the Club. To treat Danny Ellis like this just goes to show they have learned very little and indeed know very little about running a club at this level.

Starting to question now what the owners plans are for the club.
It was an exciting time during the summer when grand plans were announced to bring Nethermoor up to the standard of a modern non league ground (badly needed in my opinion), however starting to wonder now if the owners will just use the club to generate income for themselves. Everything always feels like it is on a shoestring budget here and I fear the money generated by the new 4G pitch and upgraded facilities will not be reinvested back into the playing squad.
I hope I am proved wrong, but recent events have shown the owners cannot be trusted to stick with a plan.
