Presumably there's also a plan to sign a new centre half? He's not going to stick around as a player after that, and the ranks were thin as it was. The decision to sell Sikora looks particularly odd if this move was in any way planned in advance.

Would it be a good idea to show Danny Ellis our appreciation on the 5 minute mark on Saturday then again at the next home game. Not for me - would be a distraction, I think, and he won't be there to hear it. Would be good to do something though. Perhaps a letter from the Supporters Club?

Sad to see Danny Ellis depart after only arriving in the summer having practically building two new teams from scratch.
As others have mentioned the club has had a really good feeling around it which is surprising considering we are fresh off the back of a relegation to a level we hadn't played at in over a decade.
Best of luck to him for his next move whether that be in management or as a player, as we have seen he is still good enough to get back out on the pitch!
Good luck also to Danny Forrest and Martin Foster in their new roles for the weeks ahead, they both have the full backing of the fanbase and have been a vital part of what has happened so far this season. AB

Absolutely shocking decisions by the clubs board over the past few years. #SackTheBoard

Absolutely shocking decisions by the clubs board over the past few years. #SackTheBoard Without them there wouldn't be a club. A club I've supported since the late 80s. When the owners left the first time, then the football was 10 times more miserable than it is now!

Quite right deejay and in these cash strapped times who's going to plough money into a club at Guiseley's level? Might not agree with their decisions sometimes but better the devil you do know.

I'd agree with not going overboard. But 'better the devil you know' is acceptance of a known problem.
There needs to be channels of open communication between the board and the fanbase.
Its a total disconnect and the lack of openess and transparency is evident for all to see. This is not a new issue....

In my opinion the only way to truly get this is to have a fan representative on the board and the only way to get that would probably be having a proportion of fan ownership with those investing money into the club. It clearly works at many other clubs at this level and have no doubt it could work at Guiseley. I remember talking to a director who thought the meet the manager night was a great idea, I’m sure an evening with the chairman would also be very well attended.

Whilst I think the board pressed the panic button too soon (especially galling as they failed to act quick enough last season when it was obvious a change was needed), the facts are that Guiseley have only picked up 13 points in the league in the last 15 matches, equal lowest of any team, and have only picked up 9 points at home in 10 league matches this season. Plenty of other points to take account of such as injuries and player comings and goings and giving a new manager time to shape a new squad but the bare facts are interesting and would probably leave many managers under pressure.

I have to admit that stat had passed me by until I read your post, CDP. If we’re the worst team in the league over 15 games it would normally be something we all pick up on. Guess we were still in a honeymoon period of sorts where we weren’t so focused on the actual results.
That bit with Mbeka and Daly seems to be the only bit where we were actually picking up results?

Mark 1985 I don't have any knowledge as to what sort of interaction our current supporters club committee have with the directors/board but what I do know is that it took a number of years for a supporters club to be set up and accepted.

Danny Forrest has left the club with immediate effect, read the below statement from the club. We can confirm that Interim Manager Danny Forrest informed us on Monday that he has decided to leave the club with immediate effect. Whilst we are saddened to lose Danny, we fully understand and sympathise with his reasoning behind his decision, he leaves with our very best wishes for the future. We are grateful to Danny for agreeing to take charge of the team in challenging circumstances and for his efforts as Danny Ellis’ assistant. An announcement on our new first team manager will be made later on tonight. Link: guiseleyafc.co.uk/club-statement-danny-forrest/AB
