Was at Nethermoor this morning doing pitch remedial and the panels being used to increase the height of the perimeter fence arrived but not sure when the work to install them begins.

Was at Nethermoor this morning doing pitch remedial and the panels being used to increase the height of the perimeter fence arrived but not sure when the work to install them begins. We do have a three weeks until the next home game, so it would make sense to be doing a few bits like that now. I understand that’s seperate to the 3G work though. I would like to know if everything is still on track as regards the new pitch and facilities, though. Since we appear to have given up on the play offs now, I’d like to speculate on when the first home friendly on the new surface will be.

Led to believe that the planning application for the artificial pitch is still ongoing but should be submitted shortly.

Speaking frankly, and there’s no point in doing anything else on a site like this, I am not a ‘fan’ of plastic pitches. I certainly don’t think they should be used in the top leagues, with some playing on them and others on grass. In tennis there are different surfaces but these are used for different competitions where every competitor plays on the same surface.
However, I can see the attraction for smaller teams where funds can be saved through economies regarding looking after the pitch and of course games in inclement weather can go ahead, where previously they were always postponed.
I recall Terry Venables years ago being involved in a book entitled, “They Used To Play On Grass” where artificial pitches were seen in a sci-fi way, as something in the future. Some of the earlier ones had obvious, definite problems, but today’s are (supposed to be anyway!) significantly improved.
It’s a ‘swings and roundabouts’ situation where there are bonuses and snags, and clubs will weigh up what is overall in their best interests. But, do I think professional football whether full/part time is BEST played/seen on GRASS, my answer would be an unequivocal resounding ‘Yes’.
It’s sad to me too, to think of the game I love, which I have watched at many, many matches on many, many grass pitches for years and years, should move away from its traditional surface and setting, and I hope grass will predominate at most football grounds in the coming years. (Which for a Green environmentalist like me has another obvious further attraction!)

Questions:
Are we still expecting to have the artificial pitch installed this summer or have we yet again not submitted the application in time? Are the perimeter fences going up in time for next season? How much has Raise The Roof collected so far? We should be getting more updates on this if we want to keep people interested. What is the latest update on the new changing rooms/facilities etc? What stage are we at?
Ideally we could do with some official communications from the board on these issues.

I can confirm that Raise the roof fundraising has exceeded £30k. We are working with the club to look at what other grants could be available to increase this amount significantly but not to be to the detriment of what the club are also looking to raise as many schemes have a maximum grant over a rolling 5 year period.
We have many upcoming events including a golf day in April and other events on the horizon including a quiz night and beer festival and looking at more events we can run alongside the community foundation.
The raise the roof committee also has obtained numerous quotes for different options for the railway end which are being explored depending on grants which become available.

Is that to keep us in or trespassers out?

Any news on the new 4G pitch? Assuming we have missed the boat again. We surely would have known by now given we would be starting digging the pitch up in a months time.

I can't find a planning application for the club address with Leeds Council. I'd rather it stay grass.
